E-democracy initiatives in different jurisdictions have been developed
in response to a range of policy imperatives, determined by the nature
of the respective political system, technological infrastructure and education
issues. A key goal of e-democracy is to enhance participation within a
representative democracy. Engaged to inform the Department of the Premier
and Cabinet, on e-democracy initiatives and developing options for the
future of its e-democracy agenda this report identifies, describes and
critically reviews e-democracy research, activities and policies at the
local, national and international level. This report describes community
engagement initiatives in the key areas of current e-democracy activity.
