Mr Olivio Dutra
Mr Olivio Dutra is the Brazilian Minister for Cities
Olívio
Dutra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese degree. He was elected
president of the Bank Workers Union of Porto Alegre (Sindicato dos Bancários
de Porto Alegre) in 1961. Olivio Dutra participated as founder of the
Workers Party (Partido dos Trabalhadores - PT) in 1980 and as a founder
of the Central Única dos Trabalhadores - CUT (a national trade
union) in 1983. Olivio Dutra was elected Federal Representative in 1986
(PT) and was Mayor of Porto Alegre from 1989 to 1992 and President of
PT of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in the following year. He was elected
Governor of the State of Rio Grande do Sul in 1998. On January 2003 he
took office as Minister of State of Cities of Brazil. |
